Last week I was lucky enough to go visit California and try out surfing San Diego. It was my first time doing it and it was incredibly hard. I was also really surprised to see how closely it related to yoga! Looking at the experienced surfers I could see how they were moving in ways that resembled yoga poses like cobra, locust and some warriors. This 30 minute class is designed to help you strengthen the muscles you need to utilize while surfing while also giving them a chance to stretch and be supported by other areas of the body so they don’t become overused. We will play with a lot of backbends and back strengtheners, do some core abdominal work and spend the last 15 minute of the class opening up the hips, hamstrings and shoulders.
