I don’t know about you, but I have major sleep problems. My husband snores. We live on a busy street, and I have a hard time getting my brain to turn off.

I embraced the white noise iPhone apps eagerly, so I was pleased to hear yesterday that there is a new sleep app for iPhone: SleepSounds HQ.

SleepSounds HQ provides 500 environmental and white noise sounds to help people fall asleep quickly, or simply meditate (although where all those 500 sounds live, I don’t know. I was hard-pressed to find more than 200).

The catalog features sounds recorded around the world, all with whimsical names, like “Pebble Beach in UK,” “Frogs by Stream in France,” and “Bulls in Patagonia.” The mix I made last night is: “Fountain in France,” “Bamboo Windchimes,” and “White Sands Desert in New Mexico.”

“SleepSounds HQ was designed to help people fall asleep fast,” says Patrick Thompson, co-founder of Phase4 Mobile. “Better sleep boosts health, alleviates stress, supercharges creativity, and makes us look and feel younger. SleepSounds HQ’s extensive catalog of natural and white noise sounds helps people get the rest they need.”

I look forward to the app adding the ability to insert audio via URL, but perhaps that will come in version 2.0.

SleepSounds HQ 1.0 is $1.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide through the App Store.
