Meditation Muscle is the new must-read book.

Meditation rocks.

Meditation is so awesome that over 20 million people in America from all walks of life meditate regularly including Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington, NBA coach Phil Jackson, and LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner.

Meditation can make you happier. Meditation can relieve depression. Meditation can relieve stress. And meditation can actually make people nicer. But, meditation takes work, training, and dedication.

Robert Piper – a meditation expert who spent nearly 10 years studying with a Taoist monk – believes that just like you build muscle while you exercise, you can build your meditation muscle. Just like the more curls you do at the gym, the better you get at curls, the more meditation you do, the better you get at meditation.

When you build your meditation muscle you become less stressed. more aware of your emotions, and better able to channel your emotions. Who doesn’t want that?

Exercising your brain and building your meditation muscle is the premise of Robert’s new book Meditation Muscle. In his book Robert will show you how to do “push-ups for your brain.” By following the exercises he teaches, you will be able to better control your mind.

According to Robert, your attention is the most important mental muscle you have, but in today’s world our attention is severely limited because it is always interrupted. On page 11 of Meditation Muscle Robert explains that according to a report by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers the average person checks their smart phone 150 times a day. 150 times a day! Beyond that, the same study reports the average time someone spends on their smart phone in the United States is 151 minutes a day.

This really resonated with me. I’ll admit: I check my phone a lot, and I really don’t need to. It’s a compulsion. We have developed this need to be constantly connected to the outside world that we forget we need to be connected to ourselves first.

By using Robert’s exercises to bring our attention inward we can become more connected to ourselves first and thus make more meaningful connections with others. The meditation techniques Robert outlines include Pure Yi meditation, seated meditation, and diaphragmatic breathing among many others.

“I believe that practicing meditation is fundamental for survival in our stressful modern life, and absolutely necessary for being healthy, happy, and powerful in life,” said Robert.

And science agrees with him. The power of meditation has been proven time and time again in countless studies. Recently, a study conducted by University of Wisconsin-Madison suggests mindfulness meditation can increase positive emotions in your brain. Another recent study conducted by Johns Hopkins University suggests eight weeks of regular meditation has a comparable effect as anti-depressant medications.

I have been meditating for years, and this book had a lot to offer me with techniques I’ve never tried or heard of.

Meditation Muscle is the new must-read for everybody leading a stressful life.

You can order your copy today on Amazon. Meditation Muscle will be available at booksellers everywhere starting May 5th 2015.
