When done correctly, yoga has the ability to improve your cognitive abilities and even change the way you see the world around you. While you might know about many of the physical benefits of yoga, here is a closer look at some of the ways this practice will impact your mental and psychological health.

It Slows Cognitive Decline

We have known for many years that exercise can slow the rate of cognitive decline as we grow older. Unfortunately, certain forms of exercise can also put an incredible amount of stress on our bodies, and that has a negative impact on the mental benefits.

Patients who have low GABA levels tend to struggle with much higher rates of mild depression, anxiety, and general lethargy. Yoga can be a great addition to any comprehensive physical or mental health program.

Along with consulting a mental healthcare professional and coming up with a treatment plan, yoga can help boost mental health. After weeks of consistent practice, many people find themselves at peace with their past and satisfied with the world around them.
