Today I’m headed off to Chicago. By car. It’s a 12 hour drive for me, and that doesn’t include construction, traffic, or stopping for gas. 12+ hours is a long time to sit in a car and sitting for prolonged periods of time can make your body stiff and sore. Yoga is a great way to recover from sitting too long, and some poses are better than others.
Here are 5 yoga poses to help recover from long road trips.
Pigeon Pose
Pigeon pose helps open up the hips and stretch the thighs.
Cat/Cow
Cat Cow is a great way to stretch the spine and shoulders.
Cow Face
Cow Face will stretch your IT bands, shoulders, and neck.
Camel
Camel will help stretch out your spine and open your shoulders.
Revolved Crescent Lunge
Revolved Crescent helps relieve stiff shoulders and back.
Bonus: Sun Salutations
Sun Salutations gets the blood flowing to most of the body. Sun Salutations are great to do at rest stops before you get back into the car and finish your trip.
