3 Tips For Getting Fit At Work

Getting fit at work is not always possible, especially if you are in a desk job or in most any type of a mundane position. However, there many ways to incorporate some lifestyle changes into your break hours or even during work hours that can help you stay healthy and fit.

There is always something you can do to improve your health. It is amazing how much of a difference even the smallest changes can make. If you are looking for ways to improve your health at work, start by trying to follow these three great tips.

1. Walk Or Bike To Work

If there is a way to commute to and from work that involves physical activity, DO IT! Getting some exercise in to and from work is a great way to get your wiggles out before and after your shift. This is also a great way to get on your feet and get some more exercise than usual. Of course with certain jobs this won’t be possible.

However, there are a few other ways that you can add a few extra steps to your commute every day. A good idea is to take the stairs instead of the elevator if your office is on a higher floor. You could also set a goal to stand up and take a walk around the office every hour. Even just those few extra steps can make a huge difference.

2. Do Body Exercises At Your Chair

Surprisingly there are tons of exercises that you can do while you are just sitting down, working at your desk. An example of this would be leg raises. When you start to get a little antsy at work just scoot your chair back a little bit and start lifting your legs so they are directly horizontal with your waist. This is something that is super easy to do and is easy to do without drawing any attention to yourself.

Another good way to get in extra exercises at work is to get a standing desk. This can allow you to build muscles while standing at your desk. With a desk like this you can even build up your calf muscles by slowly moving up to standing on your tip-toes, and then slowly moving yourself down to be flat footed. After a while you will really start to feel the burn.

3. Avoid Snacking On Unhealthy Foods Throughout The Day

It’s easy to just eat chips and unhealthy junk food during your breaks so that you can get your sugar high up, but you need to think about the long-term consequences. Avoid unhealthy foods that may otherwise damage your health in the long term causing you to gain weight.

The best thing that you can do is eat real fruit and bring it with you to work in a plastic container. Snack on almonds, dry fruit, peanuts, or any other kind of fresh fruit or vegetable. By doing this you can be sure to get the nutrients your body needs and stay happy and healthy.

It’s also important to realize that you can align your education with a career that keeps you active. If you get a masters civil engineering for example, you can work in a field that allows you to be constantly be building your health and fitness. Fitness trainers, physical therapists, and many others in a career that require movement are definitely fit at work and are able to stay stronger much easier than those with desk jobs.

It would definitely be nice to be able to get in your fitness while you are at work. Luckily, even if you don’t have a physically involved job a lot of different offices offer health programs and incentives to help you stay physically fit and healthy.

Overall, there is no need for you to feel physically lazy at work. There really are so many little things you can do to help you stay happy and healthy. If you start implementing these few tips you will definitely be able to see a difference after some time.
